KMHA players can try out for the following competitive teams in the 2026-27 season:
UNDER 13 (BORN 2015 & 2014)
U13 EAST KOOTENAY AVALANCHE
(A TEAM)
UNDER 16 (BORN 2011)
U16 EAST KOOTENAY AVALANCHE
(A TEAM)
UNDER 15 (BORN 2013 & 2012)
U15 EAST KOOTENAY AVALANCHE
(A TEAM)
UNDER 18 (BORN 2011, 2010 & 2009)
U18 BUCKS (TIER 3)
U18 EAST KOOTENAY AVALANCHE
(A TEAM)
STEP 1:
Please select the link below to register your intention to sign up for tryouts with KMHA. There will be no charge for this registration, but it will allow KMHA to keep track of players.
REGISTERING WITH KMHA WILL QUALIFY YOUR PLAYER FOR THE KMHA EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT IF THEY RETURN TO PLAY THIS SEASON.

REGISTER FOR EK REGIONAL COMPETITIVE TEAMS
IMPORTANT: TRYOUT REGISTRATIONS OPEN MAY 1, 2026 AND MUST BE SUBMITTED BY MAY 31, 2026

May 31 – REP Registration Deadline
June 1 – July 31 – REP Late Registration (+$250 late fee — hard deadline)
East Kootenay Minor Hockey Program Updates
U13 Avalanche Program
Players from East Kootenay can try out for U13 Avalanche (This program is based out of Cranbrook)
U15 Avalanche Program
All players outside of Cranbrook must try out for U15 Avalanche first
If not selected → try out for U15 Bucks
If unsuccessful → return to home association
U16/U18 Avalanche Program
Introduction of U16 Avalanche Team
All players must try out for Avalanche first
If not selected → return to home association
U18 Bucks (Tier 3)
Eligible:
- Players from Kimberley, Creston, Fernie
- Only if no carded (Tier 4) team in home association
Not Eligible:
- Golden
- Invermere
- Elk Valley
- The Cranbrook Minor Hockey Association (CMHA) manages tryouts and registrations for these competitive teams
- If a player is selected to participate on a regional/competitive team, we will commence the transfer and the full registration fee will be collected at that time.
