THE DIVISIONS

U7

U7 is for children born in 2018 and 2019 (they must be 5 on or before Dec 31, 2023). Each level in hockey consists of first- and second-year players. U7 players are typically in kindergarten and grade one.

U9

U9 is for childrenĀ born in 2016 and 2017 (Must be turning 7 or 8 on or before Dec 31, 2023). Each level in hockey consists of first- and second-year players. U9 players are typically in grade two and grade three.

U11

U11 is for youth born in 2014 and 2015 (must be turning 9 or 10 on or before Dec 31, 2023). Each level in hockey consists of first- and second-year players. U11 players are typically in grade four and grade five.

In addition to practices twice a week, games generally consist of:

  • Tiering Tournament: Preseason tournament which allocates all the teams per age group into a division to ensure league structure is created so teams are a similar skill level.
  • 10-14 League Games: Half of the games are at home and half are away games
  • 3-5 Tournaments: Decided by the parents/coaches, usually at the parent meeting within the first two weeks of the season start
  • Banner Tournament: Divisional League Championship held for each age group from U11 and above

U13

U13 is for youth born in 2012 and 2013 (must be turning 11 or 12 on or before Dec 31, 2023). Each level in hockey consists of first- and second-year players. U13 players are typically in grade six and grade seven.

In addition to practices twice a week, games generally consist of:

  • Tiering Tournament: Preseason tournament which allocates all the teams per age group into a division to ensure league structure is created so teams are a similar skill level.
  • 10-14 League Games: Half of the games are at home and half are away
  • 3-5 Tournaments: Decided by the parents/coaches, usually at the parent meeting within the first two weeks of the season start
  • Banner Tournament: Divisional League Championship held for each age group from U11 and above, typically happens late Feb/early March and could be an away weekend
  • Provincials Tournament: Provincial Championship held for each age group from U13 and above for those who win their Banner Tournament, typically happens mid/end March at Spring Break and involves travel that can be anywhere in the province

U15

U15 is for youth born in 2010 and 2011 (must be turning 13 or 14 on or before Dec 31, 2023). Each level in hockey consists of first- and second-year players. U15 players are typically in grade eight and grade nine.

At this level players can also try-out for the regional zone team, managed by BC Hockey, however players must first register with KMH.

U18 is for youth born in 2007, 2008, and 2009 (must be turning 15,16, or 17 on or before Dec 31, 2023). U18 players are typically in grade ten, grade eleven, and grade twelve.

Want to learn to play hockey? Want to have fun with other girls developing skating and hockey skills? Power skating, drills and lots of shinny time!

Possibility if interested to join with other girls our ages to form a tournament team, but no obligation if you're happy with just weeknights and having your weekends off!
